5 ways to face the shits in your life

Yes, Shit does happen in life. I have in one right now and I can say it sort of allow me to slow my life right now and think about all the nooks and crannies which I have been through this recent years.

Truth is I wasn’t growing in the way I want in life and I have been questioning the universe and god if this is the right path for me. Am I on the right path? Am I in the right way? Lost? I thought I wasn’t but the truth is I have been lost this 2 years plus. All the way up till now. It has finally snowballed into a big ball of shit right now.

Perhaps something needs to end in order for Universe to sort some backend stuff in their office. For now, I finally found my peace, which has been lost for almost 2 years. So, I really want to share my techniques with you guys if you are in the same situation as me right now.

  1. Question yourself

jeremy-cai-1170

Go to a place you like and ask. Preferably somewhere with no people. Go deep into your heart and ask yourself wtf u want in life. Answer your own questions. Nobody can answer for you. You need to figure out yourself and be super honest about your own truth. Stop lying. Stop finding excuses. When you finally found the answer to your question. Trust me, a kind of acceptance will be settled into your chaotic heart and mind.

2. Manifest about what you want and trust in the Universe

jeremy-thomas-99326

Go ahead. Try it. It’s free. It’s not a self-help book for you to throw your money into it. I ain going to tell you how to do. Go to youtube and search for it. I have tried it over and over in my life cause it really works. I have seen miracles manifesting in my life through using the lesson from Law of Universe. Every time shit happens, always believe you are meant to be put in that spot for greater things to come into your life. Yes, it might be too dark to see it at the moment but trust in it.

3. Give thanks to everything in your life

simon-maage-351417.jpg

The moment when these words hit you in the eyes, you are able to see and understand what am I typing and trying to convey to you. This is a gift of education. Be grateful about it. The moment you switch on your laptop with a click or a button on your phone, you have the equipment to be able to communicate with your friends, relatives and partner. Be grateful that you are born in the right era to enjoy the technologies you are having right now. Give thanks and feel your feeling lifted up for that moment.

4. Download a playlist of soothing songs and motivational podcasts

simon-abrams-286276.jpg

It’s okay to feel shitty even after doing the first 3 tips as mentioned. So make a playlist of soothing songs to fade yourself into it or listen to motivational podcasts from people such as Gary Vee, Tim Ferriss and Simon Sinek. These guys are fabulous and able to sorta help you feel a bit better in this shitty world. One of my favourites is this. Surround yourself with positivity is the first step to everything. Trust me. You will feel a lot better after listening to them.

5. Subscribe to motivational video on Youtube

avi-richards-183715

I never did in the past. So I started to subscribe to videos which gave me a glimpse of hope in the current shit I am in right now. It helps a lot. Anytime the creator created a new video, it’s like another pill for my soul and a trigger for me to try again one more time.

There is this saying from Haruki Murakami.

“And once the storm is over, you won’t remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won’t even be sure, whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in. That’s what this storm’s all about.”

Let’s face the rainbow at the end of the storm together.

Why am I ditching Daniel Wellington Watch?

Let me say something right here.

I was a big fan of the brand and was attracted to its clean simplicity design when it was first launched in  2011. So I bought it asap once I graduated 3 years ago from my University.

dw-2

This is the watch that I bought. A solid beautiful Sheffield design.

Fast forward 2.5 years later, the brand was getting under my nerve. They are too much counterfeit products in the market and they looked and felt almost the same as the real one.

DW has changed from a lifestyle brand to a sales oriented management. It’s good to be sales driven. But it is actually diluting its own brand by not having a strong stance on its product. Anyone can sell. It became a pasam malam brand.

cheap-dw

A lot of watch retailers are carrying DW watches in their shop with at a price of $200 plus. Qoo10 Singapore (E-commerce website) is selling it for SG49.99 for a piece. Apparently, China is crushing DW quite badly with its warehouse direct sales and nobody in DW actually gives a damn. So, why would I buy a simple design dress watch that is around $200 plus? I can get it for $50 a piece. Nope, I will choose to back out from this brand.

This time round, it was Solvil Et Titus which caught my eyes.

MODEL NO.06-2873-008

  • – 3-hand automatic movement
  • – Stainless steel case with dark brown oily Leather strap
  • – Blue sunray dial with applied silver color index
  • – Skeleton design at 6 o’clock
  • – Hardened convex crystal
  • – 30M water resistant

I was captured by the design at first before settling down to my first Automatic watch.

Let me end this with a beautiful paragraph I saw on Watch U Seek Forum.

I never understood the allure of mechanical watches. They are so expensive, antiquated, and unnecessary. But they tick. They have a heartbeat. They have weight. My life is spent in front of a computer screen handheld or desktop and the beauty of a handcrafted machine on my wrist is a perfect counterbalance.

Growing old is a pain in the ass for Singaporean “Working class” Elderly

Let’s start by going all the way back to the 60s.

For this post, I will use two 60 years old males as an example of the income gap in Singapore and how it has spiraled down to our current situation.

spoon

I will use Mr Wooden Spoon and Mr Silver Spoon as an example right here.

Let’s talk about Mr Wooden spoon first. His dad was a blue-collar worker in the 60s, which was enough to feed a family of 6-8 people.

1papermachine1feb

Example of a Factory Worker in a Paper Factory

To Wooden’s dad, it’s more than enough if his children has clothes to wear, food to eat and a school to attend. When Wooden reached 7 years old, his dad enrolled him into a Chinese-stream school.

In education, for example, the government did not attempt to regulate and support the number of Chinese schools and, at the same time, encourage the growth of English-stream schools. The Chinese-educated became an under-privileged group; they had no opportunities for tertiary education nor could they hope to be employed in the civil service.

~The Development of Education in Singapore Since 1965

There was the first split in between the “Elite” class and the “working” class of Singapore.

Example of a Chinese-Stream School in the 60s as shown below.

happy-school-chinese-schools-exhibition

Let’s talk about Mr Silver Spoon. His dad was a humble lawyer who was able to afford a good house for his Family. He was one of the minority in his era to understand the importance of Education and started to save up a sum of Money for his Son University’s fees.

Example of a lawyer’s job in the 60s.

Much of my litigation work in Singapore then was concerned with moneylenders’ actions, property disputes (especially rent-controlled disputes) and debt collection. We were paid adequately but not handsomely and, in my case, I was given a fixed bonus of one month every year. However, the cost of living was very low, and a bit of frugality would allow a young lawyer to buy even a small house in the best district in Singapore.

~Reflections of a Former Practitioner

When Silver reached 7 years old, his dad enrolled him into a English-stream school.

When Mr Wooden reached 16 years old, he decided to drop out of school to work instead as tertiary education need a good command of English to enroll in. Mr Silver on the other hand has successfully attained a place in National Junior College, the first specialized co-educational government school established in independent Singapore for top pre-university students.

njc

There is the second split of differences for Singapore. One has succumbed to the fate of “working class” and the other was destined to climb even further up onto the “elite” class ladder.

Fast forward to a few years later, Mr Wooden is a technician who lived from paycheck to paycheck while Mr Silver is a lawyer who understood the theory of Investment.

spoon2

Right now, both men are in their 60s. Mr Silver is able to retire comfortably in a few years time while Mr Wooden has his financial stress of not having enough to live a basic minimal life and might need to work till to his 80s.

Hopefully Singapore government will do something about this impending issue. Else I will be planning my own retirement at Malaysia with my partner.

A response to Ms Melinda on gay kissing in Singapore.

To be honest, I am not a big fan of PDA.

Be it heterosexual or homosexual, it’s just simply awkward to see 2 tongues waging in front of me as shown below.

I am not a big fan of Stomp by the way. That’s what google smacked into my face when I typed “Kissing in MRT”.

What you can do is to just look elsewhere or try to squeeze into another place where you could not see saliva drooling everywhere on the floor.

I respect everyone’s rights, but this is Simply Disgusting in a public space. ~Melinda

At least, we are on the same page right here. Ms Melinda. =)

What if my children saw this and asked “Mummy, why are the two men kissing?” Would I have to answer “It’s the same as normal love and marriage. The only difference is that one man opens his buttocks for the other man to put his private part inside but in the end, no babies come out. They only get AIDS”?!

~Melinda

I mean I will ask if I am a kid. I did ask my Mum when I was a 7 years old kid. That memory is still vivid in my brain, especially that school girl sitting on a man’s lap in a MRT. My mum just asked me to shut up! It’s like what all Asian parents do anyway. You can just tell your kid to shut up! No need to explain too much. They will understand when the time is right. That’s how I grow up too.

But the way of your reasoning to your kid was extremely repulsive. Let me put it in this way.

7 years old Kid,” Mummy! Why are the man and woman kissing over there?”

You,”It’s normal. That’s how a man and woman make love. The man sticks his penis into the woman’s vagina. In the end, baby drop out from there.”

I will be horrified if I am that 7 years old kid. It’s too much explanation and information of the human sexual organs. I think we can use a better method to explain the meaning of PDA instead of trying to sex up an explanation to a kid. Right? Woman?

Most people in SG already know they exist but would prefer that they just go back inside the closet and stop seeking attention.

~Melinda

There you go again. We should ask all the people in the train to stop kissing cause they are all seeking attention from the public. That I agreed with you. We should follow Ms Josephine Teo’s advise to kiss and have sex in a small space. Closet is a perfect place to fuck each other brain out. =D

Some of them are not contented with Pink Dot and intimacy in private. Instead, they want to flaunt their gayness in public and ‘confront’ normal heterosexual couples until they accept them as normal and see them as equally ‘married’.

~Melinda

May I know what do you mean by confront? For what I know, the definition of confront is to “come face to face with (someone) with hostile or argumentative intent”. Let me tell you, it’s always the heterosexual people “confronting” the homosexual people instead. Have you been reading news recently?

There you see. A lot of people are on your side. No worries, you can join them and wave the cards high into the air. =)

For many of us, life is not just about fulfilling sexual fetishes that are falsely attributed to genetics.

~ Melinda

Let’s just put it in this way. What if this world you are living in is not a heterosexual society by nature? Someone is asking you to enjoy pussy instead of a proper dick in your vagina? How would you feel? Having a dick sticking into your vagina feel more right than a finger right? You will definitely agree with me on that. It’s the same for the gay community.  Having the same sexual organs with their partner feel more comfortable for them. It’s not just a sexual fetish. A human has a right to choose what go in and what come out of their private part. Nobody got a right to stop you or force you to try something you doesn’t feel comfortable with your own body. Do you understand?

I hope you do.

5 Reasons on why I bought the Panasonic Lumix TZ70.

I am not going to explain all the specs and technical stuffs over here.

If you interested to know, find out more from Lumix TZ70 site.

Piggy Bank.jpg

  1. It’s within my Budget

I was stuck for a week thinking should I get a $1k mirrorless camera or a $400 plus point & Shoot camera. But I was thinking since it’s my first compact camera for the first time like ever, I decided to opt for a budget friendly camera. My Lumix TZ70 costs around $400 plus. Totally within my Budget.

leica

2. I am a huge fan of Leica

The camera has a Leica DC VARIO ELMAR 30x zoom lens with a focal length range of 4.3-129mm, which gives a 35mm equivalent range of 24-720mm and an aperture range of f/3.3-6.4 (wide-tele).Yes, this is a specification of the camera. But this is an amazing one.

1000056

3. It can really zoom

Yes, It has the ability to zoom with its 30x range. Panasonic has too incorporated its own advanced Hybrid OIS+ (Optical Image Stabilizer Plus) five-axis system, which promises to keep this kind of blur to a minimum and is available for both stills and video. I was sitting a few tables away from this aunty above and it has the ability to capture the scene in a split second too. A great camera for street photography for me. =)

photo-1471102204080-fe99e6db4ef0.jpg4. Its Macro shot is fantastic! (At least for me)

I know there will be professional and camera experts bombarding me that they are other better cameras around which can able to zoom down into the pores of the chocolate chips on the donut. But to me, this really works for me. It offers a Macro setting that allows you to focus on a subject that is 3cms away from the camera when the lens is set to wide-angle.

photo-1446410320700-66a291be8daa.jpg5. Motivation to take more nice photograph

Phone camera is great. But somehow, a real solid camera is always better than your own phone. Not trying to a snob here. I have seen too much pictures on Instagram and Facebook to see that there is really a major difference between both. Of course, capturing a moment with a phone is definitely much more convenient than a camera. But Lumix TZ70 has managed to capture my heart with its fast shutter and image stabilizer. Therefore, it’s one of my daily carry out items in my bag.

That’s all! Folks!

Feeling stuck in your job?

Cause that’s exactly what I am feeling right now. When you have a hand-off Boss, who has a traditional mindset towards the Company management. There is nothing much you can do. But it’s definitely much better to stay for a year than to leave in within a few months. Yes, it’s suck. But it allowed me to pay my monthly bills and loans.

So I decided to write this post as a reminder to myself in the rest of the 5 months that I have left.

  1. Learn new skills

book.jpg

Yes. Instead of feeling fuck up and fed up about your life. Try to read articles on the internet like Medium and  keep yourself updated in the current news. For me, I have recently pick up Fish-keeping hobby and learn how to play Squash for this year. So, it’s a pretty good year for me.  Not that sucky.

2. Do a mini weekend escape to other country

luggage.jpg

Yes. It’s important to save. It’s even important to see the world when you are in your 20s. Plus, mini weekend escapes are able to let you escape your current situation for a moment. I have already took a mini trip to KL and Genting for this year with my gf. Heading soon to Japan at November. At least that is a major distraction for me at the moment.

What’s yours?

3. Start a project

Messy.jpg

Yes. Find something meaningful to do. I did. Like starting this WordPress site. Find something that you have been putting off for years. I mean if you cannot change the situation of your career, at least there is something for you to work on at the moment. Go and start a project. It can be anything like to be able to converse in Cantonese within a year or do a smiling video for each day like those famous Youtubers. Anything? Up for you to find out what really drive you on.

4. Download a Countdown app

Screenshot_2016-09-24-23-45-28 (1).png

I love Countdown Apps. They are a great reminder of amazing things are coming soon and I will always feel a sense of satisfaction after looking at it.

For my current lackadaisical situation, I choose to download Zui Days for its high resolution images at the back of the ticking numbers. It serves as a reminder of how a year can pass by that quickly. Nothing is permanent, neither is my trouble.

5. Scroll through the online Job Portals once in a while

Scroll.jpg

It’s always great to scroll through the online Job Portals once in a while to remind yourself of the number of amazing jobs that you can get to do once you are out of your current Pigeon-hole. At the same time, you are able to update yourself with what is the current job industry at the moment. So, I am window shopping right now.

6. Change your perspective

alone

Yes, it’s sucks. Nothing is going your way. You tried so hard and it is not really working. Life is about sucking it up and acting like it doesn’t matter. Yes, we need to suck it up at time. I have agreed to that T&C of life. But I will not allow myself to feel miserable  everyday. That isn’t healthy.

I have learnt how to unloose myself and let myself be zen in my current situation.

The spark of love for Fish Keeping Hobby

I chanced upon this picture of a Planted Tank on Instagram 2 months ago and was totally captured by the beauty of it.

planted-tank-layers

Planted Tank

The next moment I knew, I have made my way down to Green chapter to get my 5L Aqualighter Daquarium, Elephant skin Rocks and 2 bags of Gex Planted soil.

aqualighter-aquarium-set-pico-5-l

5L – Desktop Aquarium Set (Pico Set)

As I want a low tech planted set, I need to find a carpet grass seeds which will not die easily on me. Plus, it will be cheaper for me to handle the maintenance of my Pico Tank. *Chuckle*

So, it did grow into a nice carpet and I was looking around for a nice Betta Fish to add into my Tank.

To my horror, I woke up one day to realize that my Tank has this tiny white wriggling stuff hanging onto the surface of the Tank water. Fortunately, it is Planaria, a type of water pest which will only come when your tank has ton of nutrients for them to feast on. It is known to be harmless to the human species. However, I was feeling shucked out by the appearance of it and cannot imagine it leaching onto the skin of my Betta Fish.

After having some consideration,  I decided to restart my Planted Tank into a Fish only Tank. Planted Tank is not really my forte. You really need a lot of patience and mad love for tank maintenance, else your tank will be full of Pests and Algae everywhere. That sounds exactly like recipe of disaster to me.

In order to save time, I went into Betta Club Sg to check if there was any sale for Koi Betta going around. Fortunately, there was a lot of choices for me to look at and I ended up falling for this little guy in the video below.

Cute right?

After trying a few filters system for him, I decided to go for the Sponge Filter system.

No overpowering of suction and strong waterflow in my Tank. The perfect solution for my Blowy the Betta. Yes, his name is Blowy.

For the airpump, I bought the latest Ocean Free Vultron pump. It looks really sleek and nice on my desk with its volcano-like design.

Here is the final picture for you guys!

20160917_162426

Looking nice, right?

Hopefully he will love his stay in my house.
